Donate Books to Support Independent Bookselling

Stone Sentinel Books is a curated used and collectible bookstore specializing in hardcover first editions of science fiction, fantasy, and literary horror.

We accept select book donations by appointment to help preserve and circulate important works within these genres.

Please note: Stone Sentinel Books operates by appointment only. We are unable to accept unscheduled drop-offs.

We’re especially interested in donations that include:

Hardcover first editions or early printings
Science fiction, fantasy, and literary horror
Small press, out-of-print, or collectible titles
Books in very good to fine condition, with intact dust jackets

Collections from longtime readers, collectors, or estates are particularly welcome.

We're generally unable to accept:

Mass-market paperbacks
Ex-library or heavily worn books
Textbooks or general nonfiction
Mold, water-damaged, or smoke-affected books

Being selective allows us to focus on books we’re best equipped to handle and place with the right readers.

What happens to donated books?

Select titles are carefully evaluated, cataloged, and offered for sale
Proceeds support the ongoing operation of Stone Sentinel Books
Books not selected for resale are donated onward to local charities or literacy organizations when possible

Local Collection Pickup Available

For collections that appear to be a strong fit, local pickup may be available within approximately 40 miles of the Sacramento city center.

Pickup is offered by appointment only and is typically reserved for larger collections or libraries aligned with our focus areas.
